Amber & Tim’s Engagement Session

Filed under: Portraits — True Blue Photography @ 7:12 pm

I met Amber and Tim this afternoon for some photos and a little Merlot at the Bernardo Winery in San Diego. The winery has a bit of a country flair with an open barn decorated with old saddles. It’s a cozy and perfect place for Tim and Amber to tie the knot this July. I can’t wait!!!

Sexy, Sassy Maternity Session

Filed under: Portraits — True Blue Photography @ 5:08 pm

While I was up in Santa Cruz I got the opportunity to get some photos of Kim who is not only a fellow photographer but is also 6 months pregnant. They say that pregnant women have that special glow about them and I agree. Kim is absolutely radiant and makes pregnancy look so darned good.

Birthday Girl

Filed under: Portraits — True Blue Photography @ 3:49 pm

Natalie just turned 4 years old and celebrated her birthday with friends and family at a “My Gym” party. The kids had snacks and cake, watched puppet shows and played on swings, slides, ropes, a ball pit and a kid sized zip line. There were a few special treats just for the birthday girl as well.

Senior Session for Nick

Filed under: Portraits — True Blue Photography @ 3:17 pm

I remember Nick as a little boy tearing it up on a BMX bike but now he’s all grown up and is graduating this year. He lettered in football, basketball and volleyball during his time at Grace Brethren. Next stop… college!

Eric and Jacob

Filed under: Portraits — True Blue Photography @ 1:10 pm

We had originally planned to meet at the El Dorado Nature walk but it was closed so we headed across the street for some fun in the play area. I think they had a ball. These two little boys are so similar and yet so different but one thing is for sure. They are brothers AND best friends!

California Photographic Workshops

Filed under: Events, Personal work — True Blue Photography @ 1:10 pm

Many professions require continuing education in order to maintain professional licenses. Unfortunately the photography profession isn’t one of them. Our associations sometimes give us credits for taking courses but it’s not a requirement of the job. It’s sad because I think as a group we have so much to gain by attending periodic workshops to help us to grow as artists and business people. Yeah – being a photographer can be fun (ok – it IS fun!) but it’s a lot of hard work too. Technology and the tools we use to capture your family’s images change constantly and I think it’s important for us to keep up with those changes. Another benefit of taking workshops is that you’d be amazed at how much a group of photographers can inspire each other. We benefit as artists but I believe that it is our clients that benefit the most.

I was lucky enough to spend all of last week in Scott’s Valley California attending Tina Wilson’s class on Children’s Photography put on by the California Photographic Workshops. It was an incredible experience and I learned so much from her, the other instructors and my colleagues. Here are some images from my week.

Ashley

While taking a course in Scotts Valley California, Texas photographer Ashley Mack asked me and the rest of her fellow students (and instructor Tina Wilson) to take some head shots for her new website. We were all more than happy to help a fellow photographer out. Here are a few shots that I took.
