Thanksgiving 2006

Filed under: Personal work — True Blue Photography @ 1:31 pm

I have so much to be thankful for in my life and got to celebrate Thanksgiving dinner at my father’s this year. I am truly fortunate to have such a great bunch of people to celebrate holidays with. Family that I was born into, family that I’ve inherited along the way and family that I’ve chosen.

The Anderson Family

I met Terri, Tommy and Traci down at Seal Beach for a family portrait yesterday. It’s been too many years since I did their last family portrait together but it was truly great to see old friends. We followed up this holiday session with dinner at Super Mex. Yum!!!

PJ and Lindsay

Lindsay and her mom met me at Heartwell park for their annual holiday portrait. It’s a wonderful and rare thing when a mother and daughter are as close as these two are.

Visual Energy

Earlier this year I shot an equine portrait for my friend Joy while at a horse show in OC. Joy and Visual Energy (Eny) did really well that day and won their first blue ribbon in jumpers together. Neither of us had any idea at the time that this would be their last show because within a couple of weeks, Eny became very ill with an antibiotic resistant staph infection and died. Eny spent more than a month in the hospital while Joy and the vets did everything they could to try to save him. In hindsight, I look at these photos much differently now and am really glad that I was able to take some photos that day. Joy will always be able to look at them and remember the good times she had with her best friend.

Chrissy and Anne at the mall

I was feeling pretty brave for taking my youngest daughter Chrissy to the mall with her best friend Anne for dinner last week. They didn’t count on me bringing my camera but were pretty cool about me taking a few snaps. I was really glad not to hear the “ah mom” bit. Not even once. We started off at Johnny Rockets for burgers then headed over to Starbucks for something yummy and chocolate. Mmmmmm!

Kelly wanted to surprise her boyfriend with some photos for the holidays so we got together for a quick shoot. I’m pretty sure he’ll like his gift.

Don & Carole-Ann Senior Portraits

With very little time, we managed to get a few shots for senior graduation announcements. Some days I think it’s easier to get other people’s kids to cooperate than your own. Two down, two to go…

2nd Shift Lift’s Annual Holiday Portrait

Filed under: Portraits — True Blue Photography @ 10:08 pm

Who says that portraits are just for individuals? I’ve been shooting the annual portrait for 2nd Shift since it’s beginning 10 years ago and they decided to step off of the stuffy corporate holiday card path this year and do something fun. This will be the last year I’ll be in the photos with them as I’ve moved on to photography full time but I’ll be seeing them next year for their latest holiday portrait. These have been some of the finest people on the planet to work with.

Part 2 of the Smith family Christmas beach session. I had so much fun doing this session that I didn’t even mind having dinner at Ruby’s on the pier afterwards in wet jeans and completely saturated shoes. Extra thanks to my brothers for letting me know that wave was coming in alot farther than the rest.

What an awesome beach session. My two brothers and their families all met me on the beach for an extended family session. Only in So. Cal can you have a beach shoot in November for your Christmas card photos.
